The Truth About Riley

The Truth about Riley - Henrietta Clarke Sweet, and romantic, but Riley got on my nerves twoards the end. I understand his issues, but it got old twoards the end. Like it had been dragged out just a bit too long. I really liked the supporting cast, and I'm hoping that Drew gets his own book in the future. I quite liked his part in the story, and wish that Riley had taken his advice a bit sooner.
One Week - K. Mason Oh boy GFY *crinkled nose and unhappy expression* coupled with awkward and stilted writing, and a dull plot. Not for me.

Finding Home [Quinn Security 1]

Finding Home - Cameron Dane The story flowed very strangely with lots of time jumps until the end. It kept me from feeling invested in the characters, their situation, or their supposed bond. The resolution was strange, and neither sexy nor romantic. The agreement between two characters (both of whom where in love with other people) was just too strange for me, and I kept waiting for the main character to wake up and end the awkward encounter. The gfy aspects of the ending really didn't work although I have to give the author some credit for the ending sex scenes, and the balance of power. It was nice to read a story that didn't feel like recycled het romance cliches. One very small bright sport in an otherwise unmemorable book.

The Lodestar of Ys

The Lodestar of Ys - Amy Rae Durreson An interesting fantasy. I liked the characters, and the world building, but was a little frustrated by the stale sexual dynamics. A bit too much like a het romance in that aspect for me. It didn't ruin the story for me, but it was a bit trite. It made me glad that the sexual and romantic aspects were only a small part of the story, and not the entire focus. Other than that it was really well done. I loved the idea of the floating islands.

Glitterland

Glitterland - Alexis Hall Review to come
Per Ardua Ad Astra - Gil Cole Odd word choices, repeated words and awkward turns of phrase made this story very hard for me to read. The characters felt flat and underdeveloped. Their interactions felt stiff, and stilted, and I never felt any real connection or chemistry between them at all, and the sex scenes felt a bit forced and weird. Nothing about this really worked for me at all.

Something in the Way He Needs (Family Series)

Something in the Way He Needs (Family #1) - Cardeno C. Dear Asher, Your are a selfish, inconsiderate, and borderline abusive asshole. You cannot control yourself, and Daniel is not safe with you. You need serious help.Me
Black Dog Blues (Kai Gracen, #1) - Rhys Ford An excellent start to an new urban fantasy series. The world building is really well done, and made me feel a part of the world without any sort of info dumping. I liked the characters both primary, and supporting. They were a diverse, and well developed group. I especially liked Kai. It was nice having such an openly sexual character without having sex become the primary focus of the story. I liked what I learned of his back story. It was dark, and while Kai is troubled he never felt whiny or self pitying. The plot was fast paced, and kept me on the edge of my seat. Once I started I really didn't want to stop. I am really looking forward to reading more in this series. I need to know where things go from here.
Hidden Talents (Hidden, #1) - Emma Holly Fun, sexy, and just a bit trashy just what I was in the mood for. Love reading a het romance where the female lead isn't a complete pushover.
Ghosty Men: The Strange but True Story of the Collyer Brothers, New York's Greatest Hoarders: An Urban Historical - Franz Lidz An interesting story, but I think I would have liked it better had it focused more on the Collyer brothers rather than Lidz's own family.

King Mai (The Lost and Founds, #2)

King Mai - Edmond Manning So good. Review to come.

When You Were Pixels (Syntax #0.1)

When You Were Pixels (Syntax #0.1) - Julio-Alexi Genao I have to admit that I waited to read this not because I didn't want to read it, but because I really did. It's a habit of mine sometimes to hold off on reading books I‘ve been waiting to read because I know that once I finish they will be over especially when I have to wait for more. I’m really glad I finally read this, but sad as well because it’s over. I’m a bit pouty at times. On to the review at hand.I really loved the writing style. The point of view made the story feel more powerful, and more immediate to me. The letter format can be distancing, and sometimes makes me feel less involved, but this story made me a part of the action, and I was really invested in the outcome. I liked the slow reveal of information, and was glad there wasn’t an sort of information dumping, or awkward exposition. I found the characters and premise interesting, and well developed. I felt like I was given such a complete picture of how the world, and the characters and their relationship in a very short period of time. I’m really looking forward to more (no pressure). I’d love to see more of the world and the people in it.
Strip, Please - Jena Wade Not bad, but it pushed the boundaries of believability a bit too far. I enjoy escapist reads, but this was a little too much for me.
Desert Rain - Victoria Zagar Something about this story didn't seem quite believable to me, and the characters seemed more like types than real people. Not bad, but a little cookie cutter.

The Gig

The Gig - Kim Fielding A sweet, and cute short story. I liked seeing the crossover between both her series, and I loved the comments about "that time of the month."
The Raven King - Nora Sakavic A very good follow up to the first book. It was nice seeing how things developed over the course of the story. I liked that some things didn't develop quite as I expected, and other seem to be moving in a direction that makes me very happy. I like the slow growth of the different characters, and their growing connection with each other. Sometimes a bit over the top plot wise, but I think that was what added to the fun for me. I'm really looking forward to the next book, and I'm hoping things continue to go my way. Can't wait to see what the reaction will be to some of the developments in this book especially when someone comes back from his stint away from the team. I'm thinking someone will not be happy when he finds out what has happened. Here's to hoping it's not too long a wait for the next one. I will try to be patient.
