I read and I write about what I read. Any questions?
A touching love story that did a wonderful job grounding me in the World War II Germany setting. The story did a good job humanizing the characters without glorifying the government that they fought for. The characters were nicely developed, and I could really feel the connection that they were building, and the dangers they faced because of it. I found the history to be just as interesting as the characters. My uncle’s father was an American POW in Russia during World War II, so the decision made in the end makes even more sense to me, and seemed to be the best option out of the few they had available to them. The writing is lyrical, and made me care about what was happening to these men. Well done. It is a story that will stay with me for awhile.
