A sweet story about high school boys, and the different means they use to protect themselves, and the conflict and misunderstandings that can arise from that. I liked that I was able to get a feel for each of the characters, and their relationships in such a short work. There are some very heavy issues in this story, but the angst is not overwhelming, but also not trivialized either. I was able to empathize with Christian's struggles, and Devin's coping mechanism. Each of the characters in strong in their own unique way, and none of them are quite what they appear to be on the surface, and I appreciate that. I received an ARC of this story from NetGalley. My thanks to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review it.
